How to renew the white infill 0-100 markings on 1920s radio knobs

The knob needs to be cleaned in water with toothbrush to remove all the dirt and grime.

With a steel scriber carefully clean out the old white infill. Clean with toothbrush and rinse again.

Be careful with the steel scriber not to scratch outside the knobs markings.

Clean the knob and empty markings with turps, dry well.

The knob could now be polished up with a towel.

With a stiff artist paint brush apply white enamel paint over the infill markings on the knob.

Now take a folded up rag moist with turps and wipe off the excess paint, unfolding the rag as you go  so as not to wipe paint back on the knob once it has been removed.

Continue to wipe of the excess.    Enamel paint is slow drying so you have plenty of time.                  If you are not happy with the result you may clean off the paint with turps and start the infill again. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
