Good evening fellows.

I had unfotunately to persuade myself that, though I live in the fourth biggest city of Italy, nobody sells anymore rubber belts and other generic parts for older record players, open reel recorders, etc.

Do you perhaps know some shop with a good assortments of belts in stock? Eventually selling on the internet?

Or ideas for recycling common materials on sale in ordinary shops, and create home-made belts which work good?

Thank you very much.

Dear Marco,

One possibility is http://www.hillaj.co.uk/audio_drive_belts.htm  in the UK.

They can supply most types and have the common ones in stock.

Roy

Dear Marco,

I faced the same problem with round section belts. I found a fairly good solution, buying a kit for o-rings. It contains some lenghts of rubber cord of several sections, a cutting tool and a glue dispenser. I made many and many belts with this kit: the only limit is a quite poor tension strenght of the joint. Belts worked fine in all circumstances, but one, on an Uher Report Stereo, where the size was just 1mm and the joint failed under traction..

Greetings Marco......nice to hear from you again.

I am not sure if the company I am about to refer you to will ship their products internationally......but who knows.......are we not moving towards a global economy more every day ??

Here in the USA RUSSELL INDUSTRIES is where a lot of the guys in this hobby get their replacement belts from.

Russell Industries has a subsidiary called the PRB line.  (This is an acronym for the Projector-Recorder-Belt Company that they purchased some years ago.)

The Russell Industries website can be viewed at http://www.russellind.com/index1.htm

Once you get to their homepage select the PRB option on the left side of the page.  This will take you to the PRB page where you can select the "PRB Line PDF Catalogue" .  Once you locate the particular belt you want you can order it by email......Unfortunately......Russell industries does not employ online ordering so it is simply a matter of emailing them at neile@russellind.com  (change the A*T to @)    and state what belt numbers you would wish to order.

I would recommend that you first email them and ask if they will ship to Europe.

I hope this is a help to all of you guys over there on the other side of the Atlantic.

Best regards to all........
