My set is a SABA Lindau WIII here is my question:

The power cord was snipped off at the plug and a two wire standard Western European plug was spliced in. What I notice is there is a middel strand (1 of 3 strands) of the orginal power cord and it is wired directly to the antenna pulg. (NOTE: The end has a single attached brass plug)

The question is this; Is that thired middel cord connected directly to one side or the other of the mains plug? I do not think that it is, because I do not see it on the schematic.
Here is what I think is going on: The third center wire runs paralle to the two main cord cables and stops, not being directly connected to either of the mains plug cables/wires.
Thus serving as an antenna extension through the over all length of power cable?
Am I correct in my assumption?

Could some one with more knowledge than I please shed some lite on my question.
I thank you in advance for your feed back.
Robert

Yes. It is shown in certain SABA circuit diagrams, e.g. Model Villingen WIII.

On the upper left you see the "UKW Netzantenne". The lower end symbolises a banana plug which can be insert in either of the "Dipol" input sockets. Pointing to the right is an arrow. The counterpart to this can be found on the lower right where you see the two mains power wires arriving with the antenna wire in between. The wire must not be connected to the prongs of the power plug.
