I have been asked to restore a Radiola Duocett Grammatt radiogram for an elderly gentleman  whose Swedish partner of 33 year has recently died. The task will be be lot easier if I could obtain a schematic (circuit diagram) for the unit please. Can  anybody help??

It will be easier to find the correct schematic if you could provide the model number. Radiola re-used the same model names for many years, so the number is needed for unambiguous identification.

Many thanks - I didn't know that!

Hopefully this will help - I attach a photo of the only information on the unit. I hope that will assist with the identification of the model number  and obtaining a copy of  the much needed schematic. If you are able to help, I would be most grateful!  Bryan

Hello Bryan,

it's the Radiola model 1583V or 1586V. Both are not available in the RMorg.

Regards WB.

Many thanks Wofgang - it is the 2586V, although the 1583V appears to be the radio only version with the same chassis...

Any idea where I can find the  schematic?

All the best,

Bryan

Hello Bryan,

I think there is a typo.
You mean the 1586V, not the 2586V.
Please create your model in the RMorg first, then you can start a circuit diagram search from the model.

Regards WB.

Of course - you are correct; it is the 1586V....

But I am sorry, but I do not know what you mean by "create your model  in the RMorg first"....??

Bryan

Hello Bryan,

click on the "Create new model" field and fill out the form that opens with the data you know.
Then the model will be activated by the admins and you can upload pictures and start a circuit diagram search.

Regards WB.

I have scanned the schematic and will upload it as soon as the model page is created. The two models, the table radio Duolett 1583 V and the radiogram Grammett 1586 V, share the same shematic and alignment instructions.

From the model number we can see that both models are from season 1958/59, the second last digit in Radiola's model numbers from that period tell the year of production start.

So, now the schematic is uploaded.

Regarding the comment about the selenium rectifier, it seems that Radiola was the first of the more well known swedish manufacturers to use selenium rectifiers. They were first used in a few 1955/56 models and from 1956/57, there were only selenium rectifiers, no valve rectifiers in their AC sets. In AC/DC sets, the valve rectifiers were used for a few more years.

Centrum also seem to have made their changeover in 1956/57, and the swedish Philips factory Nefa followed for their 1957/58 models (much earlier than the continental Philips factories). The first selenium rectifiers in Luxor/Skantic sets are found in schematics dated from autumn of 1958. Aga/Stella (not to be confused with the british Stella brand) tried selenium rectifiers in a few 1960 models but it was not until 1962 that the valve rectifiers were completely gone.

The Nornan/Monark brands, manufactured by Svenska Cykelfabriken at Tobo Bruk, continued to have valve rectifiers all the time they made valve equipped sets, at least to 1963.

Most selenium rectifiers found in early swedish radios were either made by Siemens, or they were completely unbranded but with Siemens-style casings and type designations.
