Are the copper weller solder gun tips better then the silver ones?

Hello Dave,

Pure copper does not last long as a soldering tip because it oxidizes.
Good quality soldering tips are made of metal alloys of copper and iron. The white tips as shown are the alloyed ones. The tips are intended for soldering guns and in my opinion they are not very suitable for soldering in radios or other electronic devices.
The flux, solder and soldering temperature are also important for the service life of the tip.

A good 40W soldering iron is sufficient in the tool bag when on the move.  
In the workshop, a branded soldering station with adjustable temperature makes sense. I use soldering tools from Weller and Ersa because spare tips are available. I am using lead-free and with lead depending on the radio.
