Ab 1975 monatliche Erscheinungsweise im Franzis-Verlag.
Ende der 1980er Jahre nach Übernahme durch Gruner + Jahr als Beilage zu deren P.M.-Magazin,  wurde sie im August 1989 schließlich gänzlich eingestellt.

Description

Als 'kleine Schwester' der Funkschau erschien die ELO ab 1975 als monatliche Zeitschrift im Franzis-Verlag. Ziel war die Begeisterung Jugendlicher für die Elektronik und letztendlich die Unterstützung bei der Berufsfindung.

Schwerpunkt waren ausführlich dokumentierte Bastelprojekte unterschiedlichen Schwierigkeitsgrads, vielfach mit Platinenvorlagen. Diese Bauanleitungen hatten in der Funkschau in der Rubrik 'Praxis & Hobby' in den Jahren zuvor einen Umfang angenommen, der die Gründung einer eigenständigen Zeitschrift erforderlich machte.

Neben den reinen Selbstbauprojekten werden neue Halbleiter ('das interessante IC') und neue Geräte der Unterhaltungselektronik vorgestellt. In weiteren Fachartikeln werden aktuelle Trends der Elektronik gezeigt, Grundlagen erläutert,  und andere wissenschaftliche Themen allgemeinverständlich behandelt.

Im Laufe der Erscheinungsdauer änderten sich die Untertitel der ELO,
ursprünglich 'Elektronik für Praxis und Hobby' :
- Die Welt der Elektronik - Magazin für Praxis und Hobby (bis Nov. 1984)
- Die ganze Welt der Elektronik - Das Magazin für Elektronik und Computer (bis Mai 1988)
- Das Elektronik-Magazin (Juni - Sept. 1988)
- Technik erleben (ab Okt. 1988)

Beginnend mit Heft 12/1988 wurde der Bastelteil ausgelagert und in eine separate Beilage gepackt. Diese Beilage 'ELO-Praxis' im Umfang von jeweils 16 Seiten war eine Zugabe für die Abonnenten.
