Public Transport

Public transport via train (Werribee and Williamstown Lines) to Spotswood; allow for a 10 minute walk.

Ferry available daily from Southbank - Williamstown Ferries (03) 9682 9555.

Scienceworks is located close to bicycle routes along the Maribyrnong River, Hyde Street, the Yarra River and Hudsons Road. There is bicycle parking available near the front of the Scienceworks building.

Free limited onsite parking is available.

Description

Scienceworks is a science and technology museum with a strong focus on the education of younger visitors and the encouragement of their interest in science and technology.

It also houses a very large collection of scientific and technological objects which are not on display but which are progressively being made available for view in the Web. This collection includes over 1000 vacuum tubes (valves), a number of significant domestic radios and a collection of Marconi spark transmission and receiving equipment.

The website is very much a work-in-progress, quite a lot of new pictures of Marconi and other spark era objects are planned to be put on to the website and images of some of the more interesting valves will be upgraded.
