Description

Naval and Oceanographic Museum

The museum preserves articles from the seafaring history of the city.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
The permanent exhibition "The Naval Power in the Formation of Brazil" occupies seven rooms on the ground floor.
In the exhibition, the letter of the French military officer Nicolas Durand de Villegagnon, dating from 1557, in which the Guanabara Bay at the time is described, stands out. Also part of the collection are several models of warships, furniture, uniforms and several other pieces related to the history and traditions of the Brazilian navy. The second floor is intended for temporary exhibitions.
