Chrastava (německy Kratzau) je město v severních Čechách, v okrese Liberec, v Libereckém kraji. Leží asi 8 km severozápadně od Liberce v nadmořské výšce 295 m a má přibližně 6 tisíc obyvatel.
V Chrastavě se nachází stanice na železniční trati 089 z Liberce přes Hrádek nad Nisou a německou Žitavu do Rybniště, kde zastavují osobní vlaky dopravce Vogtlandbahn Liberec – Rybniště / Seifhennersdorf a také spěšné vlaky Liberec – Drážďany. Další zastávka stojí v místní části Andělská hora. Obcí prochází silnice první třídy I/13 a také silnice druhé třídy II/592. Autobusovou dopravu zde zajišťují dopravci ČSAD Liberec, BusLine a ČSAD Česká Lípa. |

| Description | Museum of historic fire-fighting techniques The unique museum of historic fire-fighting techniques was established in 1997 thanks to the combined efforts of the Volunteer Fire Company and representatives of Chrastava. Nowadays it is the second largest museum of its kind in the Czech Republic. The permanent exhibition is continuously evolving and currently represents about 60 large exhibits, predominantly horse-span manual and motor fire pumps. The museum collection offers many smaller exhibits directly connected with the history and development of fire-fighting techniques, e.g. fire-fighters‘ uniforms, fire-hats, firemen´s axes, and decorations and diplomas. Real rarities include the fire-gun which sounded the fire alarm, and the oldest fire-pump of the collection, which originates from 1778. During Chrastava’s June festivities members of the Volunteer Fire Company re-enact the old techniques, which are as functional now as they were in the old days. |

Pro mnoho návštěvníků Chrastavy se stane návštěva tohoto muzea jistě nezapomenutelným zážitkem. V rozlehlých prostorech bývalého hospodářského stavení jen několik stovek metrů od náměstí bylo otevřena v roce 1997 expozice hasičského náčiní všeho druhu, od malých přenosných vodních čerpadel po velké ruční či parní stříkačky. Je zde k vidění řada dalších exponátů ze vzdálené, ale i nedávné historie, pomocí nichž bylo zachráněno množství životů a majetku. Muzeum hasičské techniky potěší nejen malé pro pestrost a atraktivitu exponátů, ale i dospělé, kteří ocení dovednost a um našich předků při konstruování těchto občas tolik potřebných zařízení. |
