Von Bochum Hbf. Bus 368 Richtung Wanne-Eickel, von Wanne-Eickel Hbf. Bus 368 Richtung Bochum, Haltestelle "Hannoverstraße". Fußweg über Hannoverstraße und Grubenweg bis zum Zechengelände ca. 300 Meter. Von Herne Bf. Bus 390 Richtung Bochum, von Wattenscheid Bf. Bus 390 Richtung Herne, Haltestelle "Röhlinghauser Straße"; Fußweg entlang der Günnigfelder Straße ca. 400 Meter.

A 40, Abfahrt Bochum-Hamme, B 226 Dorstener Straße Richtung Herne-Eickel, 3. Kreuzung links Richtung Wattenscheid, Magdeburger Straße, Edmund-Weber-Straße, Hordeler Straße in Eickel und Günnigfelder Straße bis Museumsparkplatz.

Die Zeche Hannover im Stadtteil Bochum Hordel liegt am Radwanderweg R 37, der Erzbahntrasse, der Route der Industriekultur per Rad, sowie am Emscher Park Radweg.

A Coalmining Fortress

The winding tower of the Hannover colliery rises into the sky in the North of Bochum like a mediaeval fortress. At the time it was built the defiant architecture also made a powerful impression on contemporaries. The most splendid exhibit in the engine house is the steam-driven winding engine built in 1893. It is the oldest of its type still standing in its original place. During live demonstrations this technical dinosaur is brought back to life once more.

The final wagons of coal were brought to the surface here in 1973. Nowadays the Hannover colliery promotes art, exhibitions and events from steam festivals to boules tournaments. The “Kids’ Colliery” is a big hit with younger visitors. Here they can play at being coal miners and in doing so learn all about the different facets of the work.

Since 2003 the museum's work concentrates on the history of migration in the Ruhr. Exhibitions, discussions and events show different aspects of migration and diversity in history and modern society. A "route of migration" leads through 12 steps of migration history

Een burcht voor de mijnbouw

Als een middeleeuwse burcht rijst de schachttoren van de mijn Hannover op tegen de hemel van het noorden van Bochum. Toen al waren de mensen geïmponeerd door de machtige architectuur. Pronkstuk in het interieur van de machinehal vormt de door stoom aangedreven ophaalmachine uit het jaar 1893. Zij is de oudste van haar soort, die tot op de dag van vandaag nog ter plaatse is. Bij demonstaties zetten wij voor U deze dinosaurus van de techniek in beweging.

In 1973 werden de laatste kolen naar boven gebracht. Heden ten dage dient de mijn Hannover culturele doeleinden. Tentoonstellingen en manifestaties – van het stoomfestival tot jeu de boules toernooien – trekken de bezoekers naar het industriemuseum. Voor jonge bezoekers is de “kolenmijn Knirps” attractief. Hier leren kinderen op een speelse manier de bedrijvigheid in een kolenmijn kennen.
