Description

The visit

Duration: 2h to 2h30 guided

Languages: French / English (according to guide availability) / German (according to guide availability)

Bring warm clothes, inside temperature of 13°C

Accompanied by a guide, you will discover the design and history of the Maginot line.

The visit will take you to the most surprising parts of the Michelsberg structure. Like the concrete soldiers, you will follow the ultra-modern installations of this large artillery structure throughout the galleries, 30 metres underground.

Start by walking behind the fort with its entrance rushing under the hill. Once at the power plant, a period generator will be put into service. Then we will guide you through the barracks, the kitchens to reach the command post from where the orders left to the turrets of the structure.

It will be time to continue forward with the visit of the combat block n°5 which will unveil its huge 75/33 turret with a weight of 265 tons. A steel monster that supports two 75-mm guns that can fire its shells at 12 km.

Find the atmosphere of these soldiers who, 80 years before you, lived for months in this confined universe. These men who heroically served the fortress entrusted to them.

A little-known story to discover!
