Malaysia Telecommunication History

The Malaysia Telecommunication Museum is also known as Muzium Telekom in the local language. It is the first interactive museum in Malaysia where a chronological events of the nation's telecommunication history are re-enacted. Artefacts and telecommunication equipments used in the previous eras with a detailed write-up of their history are exhibited here.

The development of telegraph, the invention of telephone by Alexander Graham Bell, radio, telex, microwave network, television broadcasting, use of satellite, development of celular phone, the privatisation of Telekom Malaysia and the launched of Kuala Lumpur Tower as a telecommunication tower in Malaysia are all shown here.

The Bangunan Muzium Telekom is the first interactive museum in Malaysia. A visit to the museum promises to be an informative experience. Upon entering, chronological accounts of every milestone in the nation's telecommunications history are revealed, supported by a wealth of artifacts from the respective eras and soundscapes.

ATTRACTIONS

GALLERY 1 - PRE HISTORICAL A glimpse of the early means of relaying information and the various communication tools used in the country. The range are from the Neolithic paintings found in the Tambun Caves, Batu Bersurat to the Ketuk-Ketuk.

GALLERY 2 - THE BEGINNING OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS The pioneering efforts of the telecommunication industry are well captured in the telecommunication industry in this section of the museum that include the early telecommunication system in the form of the Morse Code began in Taiping in the 1870s and by 1878, networks are already established in the various settlements and towns.

GALLERY 3 - PRE AND POST INDEPENDENCE TELECOMMUNICATIONS Visitors can also get to view the various types and shapes of telephone used in the country from 1930s. Telecommunication system moved so rapidly from the facsimile machines to Atur 450 and the first cellular system the introduced in the country in 1985. Then, came the Smartfon, which uses second generation cordless telephone technology.

GALLERY 4 - MODERN ERA : HSBB EXPERIENCE CENTRE The worldwide evolution to experience the senses of sight, sound and motion. This will bring greater value through a richer digital lifestyle and online experience, enhanced competitiveness and world-class broadband infrastructure.

GALLERY 5 - AIR TELECOMMUNICATIONS (Collaboration with Infotech Quest)
A program where at the end of each group learning activities, they are faced with a flight simulation program describing the specific use of telecommunications in a more unique and different way and a career in air aviation
