| Description | The Computer Museum Arnhem is a collection of computers, documentation and peripherals at Hackerspace HACK42.
The aim is to bring these machines in working condition and keep so interested people can experience what it's like to work with such a machine, giving demonstrations and general computer history to spread. In addition, it meets a need to gain knowledge of ancient techniques, for example, unusual equipment and / or data carriers. CollectionComputers from 1958 and up.What is Hack42?Hack42 is a foundation that was established in April 2010. Our mission is to facilitate links between creativity, technology and art. We do this in the form of a hacker space: a joint workshop. Fun and sharing of knowledge are our priority. Since February 2011 we have a room in Arnhem. Since November 2011, we sit at the King's 23 Arnhem.The space is much to see and do more. If a part is arranged as a computer museum, there are labs for electronics, crafts, coding and manufacturing, there is a lounge with bar, a reading room and more. If you have anything with computers, making things, electronics, crafts or art Hack42 is the place that you will not let go. Het Computermuseum Arnhem is een collectie computers, documentatie en randapparatuur bij Hackerspace HACK42.
Het doel is deze machines in werkende conditie te brengen en te houden zodat geïnteresseerden kunnen ervaren hoe het is om met zo’n machine te werken, demonstraties te geven en algemeen computerhistorie te verspreidden. Daarnaast voorziet het in een behoefte om kennis op te doen van bijvoorbeeld oude technieken, niet alledaagse machines en/of datadragers. Wat is Hack42?Hack42 is een stichting die is opgericht in april 2010. Onze missie is het faciliteren van raakvlakken tussen creativiteit, techniek en kunst. Dit doen we in de vorm van een hackerspace: een gezamelijke werkplaats. Plezier en het delen van kennis staan bij ons voorop. Sinds februari 2011 hebben we een ruimte in Arnhem. Sinds november 2011 zitten we aan de Koningsweg 23 te Arnhem.In de space is veel te zien en nog meer te doen. Zo is een deel ingericht als computermuseum, zijn er labs voor elektronica, handwerken, coding en fabricage, is er een lounge met bar, een lezingenzaal en meer. Als je ook maar iets hebt met computers, dingen maken, elektronica, knutselen of techniek is Hack42 de plaats die je niet meer loslaat. Neem gerust eens een kijkje wanneer we open zijn (zie https://hack42.nl/blog). Of kom eerst eens binnenvallen op IRC, of raadpleeg de agenda voor geplande activiteiten en sluit je aan. Hack42 is te vinden aan de Koningsweg 23a in Arnhem. Computertechnologie evolueert heel snel. De ene technologie lost de andere razendsnel af. Nu de internetgeneratie van systeembeheerders en computeraars aantreedt, en de oude garde langzaamaan afzwaait, raakt er veel kennis verloren. Kennis van hoe die oude systemen functioneren en bediend moeten worden. Het museum heeft, naast het tonen van een brede collectie systemen, ook als doel deze systemen functionerend te houden en de kennis erover te bewaren. We hebben bijvoorbeeld een PDP11/44 staan met tapedrive en CDC drive, een aantal (micro)VAX-en, Holborn-systemen en nog veel meer bijzondere hardware. |
