De Cocksdorp ist eine Gemeinde auf der westfriesischen Insel Texel in der Provinz Nordholland. Texel ist die westlichste und größte der westfriesischen Inseln. Die Insel erreicht man mit einer Autofähre von Den Helder. De Cocksdorp ist der nördliche Ort auf der Insel. Das Museum befindet sich auf dem Areal des Inselflugplatz.

Description

Luftfahrt- und Kriegsmuseum Texel

Vorrangig wird die deutsche Besatzung im 2. Weltkrieg dokumentiert. Ein Schwerpunkt ist der Aufstand des Georgischen Infanteriebataillon 822 der vom 6.4. bis zum 20.05.1945 stattfand.

Daneben ist die wechselvolle Geschichte des Flughafen dargestellt. Es sind Exponate von abgeschossenen Flugzeugen ausgestellt. Ergänzt wird die Ausstellung durch Originalfluggeräte und Flugzeugmodellen. Ebenso werden die Bunkerstellungen des Atlantikwall auf Texel behandelt.

Ein Raum (Radiohut „Oebele Jan“) beinhaltet die Sammlung eines Privatsammlers. Dort stehen Radios, Schallplattenspieler und frühe Fernseher.
