Muzeum Kinematografii - The Film Museum - Museum für Kinematografie

The museum is derived from the mid-nineteenth century palace (residence) of Karol Scheibler, one of the most important Lodz industrialists of German origin, because of his wealth and the scale of production known as the "king cotton". Palace neorenesan-owl current block has been reconstructed in the years 1886-1888.

The purpose of the museum is the collection, storage, preservation, development and supply of cultural goods in the art and film techniques, in particular: archival film equipment including all inventions, which directly preceded the cinema, the film documents the life, physical objects related the establishment and operation of arts feature film, documentary, educational, animo-ment, the avant-garde, video and television programs, films, posters, stage design, stills and memorabilia related to the movie people.

There are also amateur and professional film cameras (the earliest from the beginning of the 20th century) for various film gauges; also projectors and screens, a large collection of still cameras and equipment, machines and equipment for the processing of film material and lighting and associated apparatus. An important part of the collection consists of film set and costume designs, designs and décor for animated films, photos, photo-documentation from the sets of selected productions, prizes and personal souvenirs concerning the greatest Polish cinema authors.

HISTORIA

Muzeum Kinematografii rozpoczęło działalność w roku 1976 jako Dział Kultury Filmowej i Teatralnej w Muzeum Historii Miasta Łodzi a w roku 1984 zostało wyodrębnione jako jego oddział. W 1986 roku Muzeum Kinematografii otrzymało na swoją siedzibę dawny pałac K. Scheiblera przy pl. Zwycięstwa 1 opodal PWSFTviT - popularnej "Filmówki" i podjęło samodzielną działalność jako jednostka kultury podległa samorządowi terytorialnemu.
Utworzenie Muzeum Kinematografii właśnie w Łodzi wiązało się z jej rolą jako centrum produkcji filmów od początków rozwoju kinematografii oraz działalnością jedynej w Polsce i uznanej w świecie szkoły filmowej.
 

CELE I ZAKRES DZIAŁANIA

Celem muzeum jest: gromadzenie, przechowywanie, konserwowanie, opracowywanie i udostępnianie dóbr kultury w zakresie sztuki i techniki filmu, a w szczególności: archiwalnej aparatury filmowej z uwzględnieniem wszystkich wynalazków, które bezpośrednio poprzedziły kino, dokumentów życia filmowego, materialnych obiektów związanych z tworzeniem i funkcjonowaniem sztuki filmu fabularnego, dokumentalnego, oświatowego, animo- wanego, awangardowego, video i telewizji, programów filmowych, plakatów, scenografii, fotosów i pamiątek związanych z ludźmi kina. Muzeum Kinematografii prowadzi rozległą działalność edukacyjną i wystawienniczą.
