| Description | "Sołdek" is the first ocean-going vessel put into operation in the history of the Polish shipyard industry. She was designed by a team of Polish engineers under the leadership of Henryk Giełdzik, M.Sc. Eng. and built in Gdańsk Shipyard, established on 19 October 1947. |

"Sołdek" to pierwszy zbudowany przez polski przemysł stoczniowy statek pełnomorski. Projekt wstępny statku opracował zespół polskich konstruktorów pod kierunkiem mgr inż. Henryka Giełdzika. Opracowanie dokumentacji warsztatowej do budowy statku zlecono francuskiej stoczni Augustin Normand w Hawrze. Budową statku w utworzonej 19 października 1947 roku Stoczni Gdańskiej kierował inż. Jerzy Doerffer (późniejszy profesor i rektor Politechniki Gdańskiej). |
