  • Annotazioni
  • The Crosley Super Sextette 648F is an AC/DC operated 5 tube superheterodyne BC band receiver.  The BC band tuning range is from 540 to 1725kHz.  Uses ballast tube W-46773 (Named in the tube list but not counted in the tube count).  A 455kHz wavetrap was installed on some of these models.  Model 648F is part of the 648 model family, which all use the 648 chassis and require an external antenna.  The 648 model family was improved by adding a built-in loop antenna, whose models then became the 649 model family. Crosley advertising promoted the 649 model family with the statement: "Newly developed loop antenna is built-in".

These models have 4 large push buttons used for station selection and have a gold etched vertical dial.  The Crosley model 648A is in Brown, model 648B in Ivory, model 648C in Red, model 648D DeLuxe (in Walnut Veneer wooden cabinet), model 648E in Blue and model 648F in Tan. The same cabinet and colors apply for the 649 model family plus a model 5648 in a wooden cabinet also having a slightly different built-in loop antenna and the addition of an electrostatic shield.

The 649 model family (along with model 5648) were also available for use with a 25 cycle, 100 to 125V power source, where a 100 ohm, 2w resistor was added to the chassis along with the substitution of a larger 60uF filter capacitor in the power supply circuit.
