It was sold under many brandnames, like AudioSonic. I have this receiver under the HEMA brand, type 39312009. HEMA is a Dutch department store.

From a guest I received this typical correspondence between him and the manufacturer or main marketer of this 9 Band World Receiver SG-792 AL.

We have to accept that todays companies are faced with hard competition. Every service or all kept papers would cost. Those who would keep documentation or would allow staff to do a research on earlier porducts would soon be out of competition in this international market. Also can you expect that such a request would reach people who have witnessed the production after more than 20 years? Normally this can not be the case. They at least will not be reached or are not there anymore. The answer could be known before ...

Dear Sir or Madam,

I just came into possession of your discontinued travel radio SG 792 AL (a very fine radio within its price segment). As an avid radio collector, I always seek as much information on a radios history and technical data as possible.

During my research I learned that this radio was also sold as
 - Magton MG-99
 - Elta 3550 (Germany)
 - Audio Ton World Receiver (Audio Ton Electronics Handels GmbH, Vienna/Austria)
 - Weltempfänger Profi World (prob. Germany)
and possibly under many more brand names.

As you are the only manufacturer known to me in connection with this radio, I assume that you are in fact it's developer and producer. As such, I should like to ask you to let me know in which time frame the radio was manufactured and, if you know, to what trading companies it was sold for re-sale under their brand names. In addition, I would be very grateful for the schematics for this radio.

Thanking you in advance for your kind consideration,
I am sincerely yours.

This was written even by naming an Embassy and a high post there. The answer was following the other day:

Hello Sir ,
Thanks for contacting us , however none of the models mentioned in your email were produced by Sangean , those made from Sangean SG-792AL copy.
SG-792AL has been discontinued for more than 20 years and we don't have a file to email you.
Sorry for not being helpful.
Best Regards,
Albert Chen

You might see now that it is very essential that Radiomuseum.org preserves such documentation and knowledge. Please do help building up the most complete reference work for radios and related.
