Volksempfänger VE301W

Hello,
I have a VE301W from Siemens-Halske, which comes installed with the RGN1054 rectifier valve, instead of the original RGN354.
But it works perfectly.
After checking the socket pinout of both valves, it can be seen that when the RGN1054 is installed, only one of the two rectifier diodes is being used.
Since the base on the chassis does not have the pin for the second diode, so it works as a rectifier like the RGN354 and the radio works without problems.
As an emergency solution it can be used.

Ich habe einen VE301W von Siemens-Halske, der anstelle des ursprünglichen RGN354 mit dem Gleichrichterventil RGN1054 geliefert wird.
Aber es funktioniert perfekt.
Nach Überprüfung der Steckdosenbelegung beider Ventile ist ersichtlich, dass bei der Installation des RGN1054 nur eine der beiden Gleichrichterdioden verwendet wird.
Da die Basis am Gehäuse nicht über den Pin für die zweite Diode verfügt, funktioniert sie wie der RGN354 als Gleichrichter, und das Radio funktioniert problemlos.
Als Notfalllösung kann es verwendet werden.

tengo un VE301W de Siemens-Halske, que viene instalada la valvula rectificadora RGN1054, en lugar de la RGN354 que es la original.
Pero Funciona perfectamente.
Revisado el pinout del socket de ambas válvulas se puede comprobar que cuando se instala la RGN1054 se está utilizando solamente uno de los dos diodos rectificadores.
Como la base en el chasis no tiene el pin para el segundo diodo, por lo que funciona como rectificadora como la RGN354 y la radio funciona sin problemas.
Como solución de emergencia puede ser usada.

this method can be used for a short time as makeshift, but it's not recommended for permanent use, as the unused cathode will then spoil.

If a fullwave rectifier tube RGN1054 or -1064 should be permanently used as a replacement for a RGN354, both anodes must be connected each other. This was often used on VE301W sets.

als Notbehelf kann man diese Methode kurzzeitig anwenden, für dauerhaften Gebrauch ist es nicht zu empfehlen, da dann die ungenutzte Katode verdirbt.

Soll eine Vollweg- Gleichrichterröhre RGN1054 / 1064 ständig als Ersatz für eine RGN354 dienen, müssen beide Anode überbrückt werden. Dies wurde im VE301W oft angewandt.

Si un tubo rectificador de onda completa RGN1054 o -1064 debe ser usado permanentemente como reemplazo de un RGN354, ambos ánodos deben ser conectados entre sí.

Esto se usaba a menudo en el VE301W.

However, it should be noted that this tube poses a danger now:

if someone want to use it as a two-way rectifier again, it will cause a short circuit.
Perhaps you could wrap a red tape around the base and write a warning on it.
