Ernst Erb sent me some statistics that show just how far the participation in RMorg has shifted toward English language content and U.S. membership in particular.

From the beginning of RMorg until now, there have been more German language members than any other language.  Recently, for the first time, members indicating English as their preferred language outnumber German language members.  Here are some of the latest numbers:

  • Total members:  12,200
  • English language members:  4939
  • German language members:  4902
  • Italian language members:  1022
  • French language members:  704
  • Spanish language members:  634

Germany is still the individual country with the highest membership, but the increase in U.S. membership is evident:

  • Members in Germany:  3769
  • Members in U.S.:  2245
  • Members in Italy:  1070

It's also clear from these numbers that English speakers from many countries besides the U.S. have become a major part of RMorg membership.

What an amazing change from just a few years ago!

Another milestone in U.S. participation is that we now show individual radio collections from over 500 U.S. members.  Many of these collections are still quite small, with just one radio shown, but the trend is very positive.  There are still far more individual collections shown for Germany (1305 collections), but that is a natural consequence of the history of RMorg, having started out with models from Ernst Erb's Radio Catalogs of radios from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.  Now that more and more U.S. models are included in RMorg, the number and size of individual collections shown for the U.S. are bound to increase.

All of this is good new for RMorg, as it transitions from a resource primarily for European antique radios to being a popular and respected worldwide resource.  More and more collectors from all over the world are demonstrating how much they value RMorg's high quality and well organized content by becoming members themselves and contributing to making RMorg even better.

To all our members from every country:  Keep up the good work!
