Philips radio sets - unknown references

Hello Dear collectors,

I tried hard but I got no ansewrs yet about "LN" references in my Philips radio sets.

Nevertheless one thing I know  I can tell you:dials are written in Portuguese language. So  I thought:  If "LN" can't mean Portugal,(makes no sense), perhaps it could mean Lisbon (The fist and the last letter). What do you think about this guess?

Is it usual to another countries?

We have been working for your LN (not NL which is X).
For tubes the system is clearly and fully explained in

Philips has a two digit country code for patents - but the PDF (283.pdf) is defective ...
But that all does not help here.

Did Philips run several manufacturing companies in Portugal? Only then I could imagine such a case for Lisboa. But I doubt it.

I hope some detectives will find out and post here the full list for (old) Philips radios ...

We just got a new model, Philips 626HU-17, for which I doubt that it is of German origin. I would place it to a scandinavian state like Denmark - but I don't know.

We seem not yet have enough knowledge for the 30ies. Is there anybody who can tell us more about the different Philips radio factories around 1935 worldwide and how the products were named at that time?

There might be other models in question like the 518HU, 529HU etc. and also for other combinations ...

By reading some Philips catalogues from 1934 to 1939, that suffix indicates only the power supply.

In a catalogue from 1934 to1935:  A for AC power supply. U for AC/DC power supply.

In a catalogue from 1938 to 1939:  A for AC power supply. HU for AC/DC power supply. B or BV for Battery supply.

 

Some examples: 638A and 638U ;215A and 215HU; 470A and  470HU , 752B and 752BV.

I don’t think that there is a relationship between those letters and the origin’s country.

I guess, numbers like -13(PL), -14 (CS), -15(F), -17, -20, -29, -30,  show us the country of origin. However, I have get a feeling, that by -32 and -64 are signs for different IF only.
