  • Annotazioni
  • In 1916 Lee DeForest was working on a series of Audions that were to be used in oscillators. The earlier audions of the spherical bulb style were redesigned to accomadate increased voltages and the resulting higher operating temeratures. The wing (plate) surface was increased and a new structure was provided. An early application for this tube was the Type-S Laboratory Oscillion. An advertisement for this unit appeared in a 1917 issue of EWlectrical Experimentor magazine.
Two sources of direct current were required, 12 volts for the filament and 500 volts for the plate circuit. The frequency or wavelength of the current generated depended on the choice of two external components. The Type VC4 variable condenser and the RJ variometer.
