The Tandberg TP41 contains a voltage stabilizer called a stabistor which is very unreliable and almost always fails after a few years. On examining the PCB, a green powder can often be seen leaking from the component. The symptoms are instability and squealing on the sound. An easy replacement is to use a red light emitting diode, giving a voltage drop of around 1.5v to replace this. I have carried out this modification on my own model to great success.

Hallo! Ich habe heute einen Tandberg TP41 erhalten und habe festgestellt, dass der Klang sehr dünn und hell ist. Bei höherer Lautstärke ist der Klang zusätzlich sehr verzerrt. Dann hat es irgendwo leicht gequalmt! Der Bassregler hat keine Wirkung! Der Höhenregler schon. Ich glaube nicht, dass das alles normal ist. Wahrscheinlich gibt gerade ein Kondensator seinen Geist auf in der Verstärkerabteilung. Schade eigentlich! Ich habe lange suchen und warten müssen, bis ich so ein schickes Teil kaufen konnte. Eine Reparatur wird sich bestimmt lohnen!
