QRP Transceiver FT-817ND

The Yaesu FT-817ND is an all band, all mode QRP transceiver.

Transmitter: The FT-817ND has a maximum power output of 5 watts on SSB, CW and FM, and 2.5 watts on AM. The transmit frequencies are amateur bands in the 160 to 6 meter range, as well as, the 2 meter and 70 cm bands. US models include the 5.1675 MHz Alaska Emergency Frequency. 

Receiver: The FT-817ND is a double conversion superheterodyne. It receives 100 KHz to 30 MHz, 50 to 56 MHz, 76 to 154 MHz, and 420 to 470 MHz.  This includes both the AM and FM broadcasts bands.

The Yaesu FT-817ND is very similar to the Yaesu FT-817.  Although the FT-817ND is marked as "FT-817," even on the serial number tag, it is a deluxe version. One sure way to tell the "ND" version is that the display has three color choices. The FT-817 does not have the violet colored display.  Other differences include the addition of the 60 meter band and comes with the FNB-85 high capacity battery.
