Die Stadt Paderborn eine Großstadt im östlichen Teil des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Der Hauptbahnhof Paderborn liegt an der Bahnstrecke Hamm–Warburg, Teil der Mitte-Deutschland-Verbindung aus dem Ruhrgebiet nach Thüringen, Sachsen bzw. Berlin; hier zweigt die Senne-Bahn nach Bielefeld ab.

Im Schienenpersonenfernverkehr hält hier die IC-Linie Düsseldorf–Hamm–Kassel–Erfurt–Gera.
Der Nahverkehr
wird von RE- und RB-Linien in Richtung Hamm–Düsseldorf, Herford, Bielefeld, Höxter–Holzminden, Göttingen, Warburg und Münster bedient. In Paderborn endet auch die S-Bahnlinie S 5 nach Hameln – Hannover Hbf – Hannover Flughafen.
Der RE11 (Rhein-Hellweg-Express) verkehrt von Düsseldorf über Hamm und Paderborn nach Kassel.

Der Teil Nachrichtentechnik befindet sich in den Gebäuden P6 und P7 jeweils im Flur der Ebene 4 und der Teil Messtechnik im Gebäude P6 im Flur der Ebene 3.

Die Sammlung konzentriert sich auf die Bereiche Nachrichtentechnik und Messtechnik. Der nachrichtentechnische Teil wurde von Prof. Hans Walter Wichert und Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Stute und der messtechnische Teil von Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Schalk erstellt.
