 Gentlemen,
My name is Ferit Akalin. I live in Izmir, Turkey. I recently became a member
of Radiomuseum.
I have been in electronics business for the past 50 years dealing with
radios, TV's, transmitters, security electronic devices-the whole lot. My
personal hobby is valve radios. I have around 100 antique radios, all
repaired, restored and calibrated almost to factory specifications. They are
lined up on special sturdy shelves. Friends and similar hobbyists frequent
my place to see and hear them playing.
Lately, I have great difficulties in receiving LW, MW and SW broadcasts,
because low quality power filters of computers used in the neighborhood and
data communications systems cause excessive electromagnetic pollution. I
built a simple MW transmitter to solve this problem so that I could better
demonstrate the capabilities of my radios to those interested to hear them
performing. Now, with this transmitter, I have great reception in all my
radios without the need for an elaborate MW antenna. My hobbyist friends
loved it.
I feed the FM section of an existing good quality radio to my MW
transmitter, which is composed of a modulation transformer, an RF stage and
10 meters of wire crossing the ceiling of my rather large room serving as
the transmitter antenna. I connect the FM receiver to my transmitter from
its speaker connections so that I would get high quality audio. I adjust the
modulation volume of the FM receiver using its volume knob. The result is
perfect. I recommend it to radio hobbyists and to all those interested.
I am enclosing the schematics and other details of the transmitter. My best
regards and best wishes of success in your radio collection and restoration
efforts.

May I draw Your attention that the operation of an arrangement of such kind is illegal in Germany and as far as I know in most or all European Countries. At least the power is too high to avoid possible EMI problems in the neighbourhood.

Please be cautious with such a recommendation. It could spoil RMorgs reputation.

Kind regards

Dear Konrad,

My friend Ferit is away for a few days, so I am answering on his behalf. This 1 watt AM transmitter is a hobby project intended for members who could build them in their countries within the boundaries of their countries' legal regulations. Therefore, if it is illegal to build it in Germany, please don't build it. We recommend the same for the other members.
The author has discovered a small mistake in the schematics of the transmitter. I am attaching the revised schematics below. He is willing to provide technical support and a parts list to those interested in building the transmitter. You can contact him through his e-mail address.
Kind regards,
