Hello,

I don't believe this tube should be listed as a common USA type.  This was one of the AWV ruggedised series of battery valves and was only as far as I know used in Australia.  See 1M5G.  This valve has the same characteristics as the 1L5G.

Thank you very much for your good suggestions. I have changed the 1D4 accordingly.
What I wonder: Some of the Australian valves made (AWV or AWA) by Amalgamated Wireless Australia Ltd. have also been made by Philips Australia. Some have been made only by Amalgamated Wireless Australia Ltd, some probably only by Philips Australia and some also elsewhere.

Are theses facts known for sure? If yes: Should we create the possibility to choose "Common type Australia" or have you an other idea for that problem? We might for instance write the facts to the notes of the valve.

Would you be interested to be a valve admin - so that you can make the changes yourself? It would be good to have somebody in that group who knows much more about Australian valves that we do ...

I've just done an investigation of valves that I have and have found a Philips brand 1C4 and 1K7G that were actually made by AWV.  I have also found a Philips brand 6AR7GT, also made by AWV but I have found 6G8Gs made by each manufacturer.  All the valves I have looked at were made in Australia.  I have read somewhere (sorry I can't remember where) that there was co-operation between Philips and AWV that was not publicized at the time.  So it seems that some valves may have been made by only one manufacturer but carried both brands.  This seems logical considering the small size of the Australian market at the time.  The Mullard and Ken Rad brands were well known in Australia too but since WWII were made by Philips and AWV.

It seems from what I have found that a "Common Type Australia" should be made available.  It is difficult to determine who actually manufactured later valves (they don't have the exise code that earlier valves have) but I think at least some were made by both manufacturers.  Most of them certainly were sold under the brands Philips, AWV Radiotron and Mullard.

Thank you for your invitation to become a valve admin but I really don't know that much, just what I have picked up here and there and from my own collection.  (I'm not a valve collector, my valves are purely for using in radios that I restore)  However if you wish I can do it just to get the Australian valves  finished.
