The Crosley 52 Operating Instructions ( at crosleyradios.com) explain that two 45 volt B batteries are required, with the +45V terminal on the second battery connected to the B45+ terminal on the radio. With the two 45 volt batteries connected in series, there is actually +90 volts at this terminal with respect to B-, so the modern schematic currently shown here should be corrected to show 90 volts, rather than 48 volts, connecting through the speaker to the output tube's plate. The instructions explain that low volume will be heard if 90 volts is not used.

Also, as explained in the instructions, the Crosley 52 came from the factory with an internal wire connecting the A- and C- terminals together. There is no mention of using a C battery, or connecting anything to the C- binding post, when using 01A tubes. But, it may be beneficial to use a C battery if using WD12 or UV199 tubes and in those cases the internal wire must be cut before connecting power to the C- binding post.
