Gentleman administrator,

I believe that the pictured Philco Model 20 is a "Deluxe" model as indicated on http://archives.radioattic.com/archive_p1.htm.  I discovered this while I tried to figure out how to upload information on my most recent restoration, a Model 20 (non-deluxe model).

If some one would be so kind as to help me figure out how to contribute a picture and information for a standard Philco model 20 I would be appreciative.

Please see http://www.ppinyot.com/philco20/philco_20.htm for additional images and a restoration story.

Thanks,

Show off!

Just kidding!

It looks great and I love your documentation!

Keep up the good work!

When will you start working on a Telefunken Opus?

Omer

Hello Paul,

Gongratulations for your Radio and for your work.

Passing by the 6th edition of "Collector's Guide to Antique Radios" Book I could read that there are, at least, three Philco 20's models:

1 - Console - (wood)
2 - Cathedral- (wood)
3 - Deluxe Cathedral- (two-tone wood),

and one Philco 20B   Cathedral - (wood)

Best Regards

Mário

Hi Paul,

the models have been corrected now.

You may upload Photos(max.120 kByte each) by clicking at the model 20 page bottom left "add info", then follow the procedure.
To enhance model page content click at bottom center/right "suggest change" and follow the procedure.

Good luck!

KoBi

Konrad,

I hope you kept the Philco 20 deluxe picture.  I could not locate it in the radios section of the web (could be my unfamiliarity with the site). It is a pretty picture.  And from what I have read the Deluxe model is considered a Philco 20.  It has a nicer architecture on the cabinet.

I have uploaded the picture of the aforementioned radio.  I captioned it as restored.  Please feel free to properly edit what Model 20 information that I upload for accuracy and web site conformity.

Thanks,
Paul

Omer,

Thanks for the compliment. I want to restrip it and try to better match the veneer color and some of the filled areas.  I am a rookie at wood finishing.

The Grundig 3034 is on deck.  On the bench is an H500 Transoceanic "Parts Radio" that I did not have the heart to break up.  I purchased this in Kutztown, Pennsylvania vintage radio swap meet for 20 bucks ($) for the antenna.  Unfortunalty the rest of the radio came with it :~)

It has a 1U5 in place of the 1S5 and looks like it was a factory mod.  The 1U5 has identical performance (except for some element capacitance and pin out).  Now I want to find confirmation as in "documented".

The inside lable indicates the 1U5 on the tube layout.  I would like to cross reference this to some note or revision on a published schematic.

Untill then I am repairing the chewed fabric wiring by replacement or heat shrink tubing, shotgun replacement of molded wax/paper & eletrolytic capacitors and drifted resistors.  One of the coils was chewed also and I have a replacement comming.

Oops - I suppose I should talk about this in the appropriate location.

Sir Moderator - should I edit and move this topic?

Thanks again,
Paul.

EDIT - I found the picture and the listing for the 20 deluxe.

Paul,
You did a good start with the photo.
To add information just suggest a change.
Should anything appear unclear or unsuitable to an admin, he will ask You or refuse the item. Thats all.
Thank You
KoBi

Note: I would never cancel a good image, provided it can be allocated. In our case the photo was moved.
