Hello Ake,

Philips launched the Miniwatt boxes in the year 1925. The design of your boxes is from Ir. Louis Christiaan Kalff (1897-1976), who joined Philips in the same year. It was one of the first designs he made for Philips.

Boxes of similar design were used for non-Miniwatt tubes too, see attachment.

The "Miniwatt" label was used by Philips from 1924 (Tube types B2 and B6) untill the end of the tube production in the seventies.

Hi John,

Thank you of your information.
Do I understand correctly that both of "my boxes" are about same age?

Ake,

Not nescessarily, a design for a tube box was used for a number of years. I do not have exact figures for that.

Marketing is not technology, a design for a tube box could be used for 10-20 years or even longer.
