From 1910 through 1912 the Federal Telegraph Company carried on radiophone experiments between the stations at San Francisco, Stockton, Sacramento and Los Angeles (all in California).

The distance between any two stations of the first three stations mentioned is 90 miles (140km), and between the first and the last station mentioned is 355 miles (570km). Speech between San Francisco, Stockton and Sacramento was clear at all times, but between these points and Los Angeles it was weak and indistinct. The antenna heights were 309 feet (94m).
