general-el: Solid State 400 or Transistor 400

Hello,

It seems that the Solid State Stereo 400 and the Transistor Stereo 400 are the same. Does anyone know if this is correct? 

Also, please note the attached label on the record changer motor states 1965. I realize the changer might well be older than the rest of the unit, but is it likely they would have used a ten-year-old changer?

The "??" on the date means it was only a guess. I'd have guessed earlier.

A ten-year-old changer is unlikely, so date might be 1966 +/- one year.
It might have been made more than one year and the branding swapped between "Solid State" and "Transistor"

Thank you, Michael; I appreciate the input. I should have mentioned that I also have a GE Solid State 300 with the same changer, also stamped 1965. So, I agree on the dating. I'll propose that change. Best
