? hismasters: trips earth leakage circuit breaker

Hello my HMV tv has started to trip the house earth leakage circuit breaker when I switch it on. I presume this must be due to a mains fault ie in or before the primary of the mains transformer. I have bypassed all the other parts of this circuit eg mains switch etc and applied power straight to the transformer to make sure the fault isn't in any of these components, but it still does it. If the fault is in the mains transformer its pretty well game over I suspect , does anyone have any idea of anything else I can do to save it?

Try reversing the mains plug in the outlet (or interchange line and neutral leads in the plug). If the isolation fault is near one end of the primary winding, chances are that the fault current will be so small that it will not trip the breaker if the winding is polarized so the fault comes near the neutral lead.
Another possibly is supplying the set via an 1:1 isolation transformer.
From pictures of the chassis, it looks like the transformer has metal covers over the windings. It could be interesting to take off the covers and see if there's something clearly visible wrong inside them.
