Hello Giuseppe,

This tube reminds me of the type made and repaired (yes repaired!) by G. W. I. Valves of London, W. 1, about 1925/26 time.  The glass type, paper label and print are very similar.  Have a look at the tubes in the Unknown Section at H. M. S. Collingwood, the Royal Navy Radio Museum.

Regards from John C

Thinking a little more about this, I wonder if the Type A was just a general purpose meaning for reconditioned tubes with a 4 volt filament by G. W. I. or even another manufacturer?

A Valves

Dear Guiseppe and John,

There are now 8 valves designated "A" in the museum.

BTH  CeCo  Messerkontact  Moorhead  Nelson Philips Radio and Telefunken.

Because of present limitations in the search engine these can only be found easily by searching on A_  rather than just A this will show them all.

A large number of companies produced the A - presumably their first one.  Sometimes their last too!  However none that I know made the "Jedebe".

I have a box lid of the same Jedebe valve with identical data to Guiseppe's.

I can find no reference to Jedebe but have seen several of their valves in the past all with the colourful label.  I suspect that the name is a brand - possibly made in France but would much appreciate any information that would assist.

Kind regards,

Roy

Hello Giuseppe,

There is now a type A_Jedebe valve created and it would be very useful if you could upload your photographs to the page.

Many thanks for bringing this into the museum.

Best regards,

Roy

Maybe a search for "JDB" is successful. Some companies used to change their companies initiales into a how to spell version like TKD = TEKADE . JDB = french jedebe???

Mi ha scritto una email mister Peter den boer:

cHi,

I sumbled over your question about a Jedebe type A. This tube was made by the company “Radiolem”. Adress: Velperplein 1, Arnhem, the Netherlands. It is only advertised in 1926.
The name Jedebe has probably to do with the name of the owner of the company J den Boestert.
It is the only Jedebe valve I have ever seen, although I am a tubecollector.
Best regards, Peter den Boer, the Netherlands
