I found today this interesting radio on ebay branded "BOND RADIO CO."  from Detroit.

I've attached a few pictures in order to help it's identification to add to RMORG's records.

Let's do the job. ;

Meyer

hello meyer, i wouldent say

it was a mystery set , because according to the plate on the chasis its a gec,

i have to say it resembles the pilot set of that era, beautiful cabinet dont you think ?

no back board , wonder how small children and house pets faired in those days, im sure if thomas albrigth sees this he will enlighten us as to the detail and origin etc , regards maitiu.

Hi Maitiu,

Indeed it is a very beautiful set !!

About the lack of the back cover note that in early radio days almost all of the american manufactureers did not mind  to protect the insides of their sets with a back cover.

Nowadays that matter would generate tons of legal processes.

I dont think that is a GE chassis. The label mention only the licences given by RCA, GE and Westinghouse for using their proprietery patents.

Meyer

Hi Meyer,

Would You please provide the tube lineup and the wavebands. And a dial photo without reflex might be helpful, too.

Regards,
Kobi

Dear Meyer
How nice to have found this not very known radio. Please bring in the model - you find Bond Radio Procucts Co. here.

I also wonder about the tubes ... 2 x 2A5 or single - or something quite different ...
maybe the model has to be "unknown" until we understand more ...

Hi Ernest,

I follow your advice and allready propose the model as "UNkOWN".

Take a look at the speaker picture.

It has a marking that says "Model 5-D"

Regards,

Meyer

hi meyer, the serial no on the speaker is more than likely just that, [the speaker code].

do you actually have this radio in your possession??

if so, could you send the numbers on the tubes [valves],

if not could you find out from the vendor on ebay what the line up is .

best regards maitiu.

Dear Meyer - and other readers:
As somebody who did eBay "business" one still sees the eMail address.
Wrote to the seller and got a reply with his telephone number.

I asked him now about the tubes. He told me the 43 (Tung-Sol) and the 25Z5 (Kenrad) but wanted only to take the ones out which are shielded if I'm really interested in a buy. I told him that the freight would be too expensive to Switzerland but that I might find a buyer in the USA. He gave me the size of the set as 9 3/4 " wide, 13 " high and 5.5 " deep.

I think it went for 70 $ - and I don't know if it is worth much more or not at all. He has sold it to a friend who could step aside ... Who ist interested in it? I should know fast ...

If a guest is really interested, he/she can send a contact form and tic the last item.

The seller, Jerry Rolfe was so nice to give us the tube line up:
6A7, 6D6, 75, 43 and 25Z5. The measurements I left because 9 3/4 x 13 x 5.5 " is about the same as is on the model page.

Jerry lives in South Burton, Michigan 48509. Who is interested in this set please? In South Burton we have no member but within Zip code 48.... there are 20 members. I will write them an eMail, telling the address of the seller.
