Kind regards,

Hi Bill,

I recently purchased a 6S27 but have not picked it up yet (400 mile trip to Louisiana to cousin's house who is holding it).  I do have a 6-S-330 which looks to have a similar mechanism and I had to change that belt.  If it is the same it will take a belt, not a dial string.  I have looked up the belt that you need and that would be a General Cement 116.  The cut length of the belt is 9 1/2 inches.  You have a few options.  There is a company online (Google radio dial belts) which makes reproduction belts or you may be able to get one off EBay.  Also I think RadioDaze.com has belt material where you can make a belt for the radio.  I happened to find a belt for mine my creating an ad at antiqueradios.com forum.

My 6S330 has a spring tention pulley under the chassis.  I had to remove the dial glass, dial pointer, and black dial to get to the pulley on the tuner.  From there you can pass the belt over the pulley and then stretch it through to the tentioning pulley under the chassis.  I could not find a way to do it without removing the glass, pointer, and dial unfortunately.

Regards,

Michael

Sorry, I just have seen this (so late).
Below the model description you can see that your model is in two collections of members.
As a member you can reach them by eMail - just in case you could not solve the problem yet.

Unfortunately they have uploaded only very small pictures. You might ask them to picture the details in big size of 933 pixels width and max. 1400 hight. Best would even be a sticky article to this model ...
Maybe you can do that later ... :-)

You're right Michael, it does have a belt. Do you know how the dial pointers comes off? Are they pressure fit and just pull off? Iv'e tried to take them off by just pulling but thy're very tight and delecate and i don't want to break them. Any sugestions?

Best regards,

Bill
