Dear Member
The unique set-up of the "Virtual Radio Catalogue and Museum" ensures that
this professional advice remains with the respective model (if model
related) and thus becomes part of the catalogue item, readily available to
anyone seeking information on that specific set. If there is anything
problematic with the high plateau reached, it is the basically
multilingual nature of the forum.
Why could you not post?
For quite a while a computer glitch (bug) prevented English language
members from having their first text accepted. This happened on first
attempt only - therefore it was not easy to find the bug. I am indebted to
Keith Watt whose stubborn pursuit of the problem eventually led to find
and eliminate the cause of this annoying "feature". There is no way to
determine how many others may have tried and then given up trying to post
their contribution. To all of them my sincere apologies.
But now you can post and answer !
Please go to "Language Selections" first to suppress all languages you do
not want to read. Before proceeding, please read the additional
information available via the blue info icon. From there on, there
shouldn't be any problems. As an initial "excercise", I suggest to
contribute in "Why do I collect radios ??". You click the article and
then "Reply".
The Virtual Museum:
More than 38.000 U.S. made radios are now listed. Over 1.000 of them show
already pictures from American collectors. I strongly believe the time has
come to make a determined effort to get the English language forum going.
The rules will have to be the same ones that proved so successful on the
German site. Only by rejecting half-truths and assumptions in providing
advice can we maintain our high standards and attract at the same time
proven experts and serious collectors. There is always the "Talk" board,
accessible to members only, where "lighter" chat is welcome.
This is a challenge to all members, whose first language is English, to
become active on the English site of the forum: Visit the forum on a
regular basis. Pose your question. If you see a question and you know the
answer, by all means, please do reply. Comment on anything you encounter
and where you feel it could be done differently. I pledge to pay special
attention to the English forum to ensure it follows the established
pattern. Should you have any concerns, you will have my ear. And while I
cannot guarantee that every wish will be met (there are limits in a not- for-profit organisation with free membership) I promise to attend to any
legitimate concern you may have.
Let's roll …
Happy collecting
