Location / Directions |
The museum is located in the centre of Tampere in the old Finlayson factory building. The best way to get to Finlayson is first to drive to Satakunnankatu, that has easy access to both parking buildings, Frenckel and Plevna. The most suitable place for busses to offload is the Northern end of Keskustori. Hämeenkatu is not the best street to find yourself in with a car if you don´t know the city. Because you can rarely make a turn from the main street, you more often than not will have to drive extra for a few miles. |

Vakoilumuseo toimii Tampereella Finlaysonin alueella, kosken partaalla sijaitsevassa. Media 54 Finlaysonille pääsee parhaiten autolla hankkiutumalla mahdollisimman suoraan Satakunnankadulle, josta pääsee sekä Plevna- että Frenckel-pysäköintitaloihin. Linja-autot löytänevät parhaan purkamispaikan Keskustorin pohjoispäästä. Hämeenkatua kannattaa autoilijan Tampereella välttää. Kaupungin pääkatu on satunnaiselle kävijälle väylä, jonka valitsemalla saa varautua tekemään kilometrien mittaisen ylimääräisen lenkin, koska kääntyminen sivukaduille on yleensä kiellettyä. |
Description | The museum presents some of the world's famous spies, such as Kim Philby, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, Richard Sorge, Mata Hari, Oleg Gordievsky and Sidney Reilly, accompanied by a thorough description of their lives. Among the dozens of personal characters are the founder of the scouts movement Robert Baden-Powell and Finland's Marshall Carl Gustaf Mannerheim.
Material in the museumThe museum presents eavesdropping devices, covert microphones, miniature cameras, a lie detector, cryptography devices, radio devices, forgeries, maps, concealed weapons and optic devices. Visitors can also try out espionage devices for themselves. Among the devices they can use are invisible ink, an infra-red vision device, a voice changer and a safe awaiting for its code to be cracked. The museum also has a secret room, and the bravest of the visitors dare to enter the pitch-dark espionage tunnel.ExhibitionCentury of eavesdroppingWeapons in espionage Motives of an agent Changing identity Dead drops Rough edge of the KGB Interrogation room Main weapon of the Cold War The ways of cipher SOE-agents Radios of espionage and recon Optics in espionage Femme fatale Shiftless counter-espionage Network espionage |
