  • Abbiphone Broadcast Receiver Type C.R.O. is a "Miniature Crystal Model C.R.O." made by Abbey Industries Ltd., London. The CRO has a BBC/PMG stamp; GPO No.492; There is a paper sticked to the bottom (outside) of the wooden box. It has an open cat's whisker/galena detector and a rotary stud tuning control with brass fittings on a black ebonite panel - which most often has gone into a yellowish brown. The wooden case is of mahagony. The original price for the CRO was £ 1. 1s. 0p

    According to an advertisement in Radio-Amatören Nr. 2 1st of May 1924, Abbiphone was also sold in Sweden for 20 Kr. as "världens bästa och minsta kristallmottagare - inklusive antenn, postförskott portofritt." The seller was "Aktiebolaget Biblioteksbokhandeln, Biblioteksgatan 12, Stockholm 7. Besides radioliterature they sold also "Nespers Hörlurar for 16 Kr. for the Abbiphone Miniature C.R.O.
