The Ocean Hopper in the 1942 Allied catalog represents the second generation of the Ocean Hopper, the first AC-DC version with self-contained power supply that became the standard for later versions. Four coils were offered that covered the same ranges as those offered for the E9844/ A9844 metal tube Ocean Hopper, 16 to 190 meters (part number 83-312 for the set of four). A second coil set was offered (part number 83-313 for a set of 2) for coverage of 190 to 550 meters for the USA broadcast band. An optional 5-inch speaker( part number 83-314) was also offered. Tubes were extra cost at $1.32
