The Tempo-Tone model 500 was almost certainly manufactured by Meissner Manufacturing, a division of Maguire Industries.  Meissner manufactured and sold radios under its own brand with very similar chassis.  See, for example, Meissner model T10-1191A (which has the same tube lineup and a chassis which looks identical to the Tempo-Tone except for the tuning dial style), as well as Meissner models 5A, 574, 6H, and 661 (schematics and chassis layout for all four models shown in Rider Vol. 17), which have very similar chassis layout and construction.
