Der Akustikkoppler ist ein Gerät zur Übertragung von digitalen Daten über eine analoge Teilnehmeranschlussleitung.
Akustikkoppler kamen zum Einsatz, wenn kein analoges Modem zur Verfügung stand oder eine elektrische Verbindung des Modems mit dem Telefonnetz nicht möglich oder erlaubt war. Akustikkoppler nutzten den Telefonhörer eines bestehenden Telefons zum Senden und Empfangen der modulierten Tonsignale. Sie verfügten dazu über ein Mikrofon und einen Lautsprecher, die an den entsprechenden Gegenstücken im Telefonhörer befestigt werden.

Stromversorgung über Terminalschnittstelle RS232 oder über 9V-Steckernetzteil.

Übertragungsgeschwindigkeiten:

The Sendata is one of several high technology products made by Electro-Medical Engineering Pty Ltd, Armadale, Victoria.  Sendata couplers are used in Europe either as original equipment components or in the aftermarket by computer suppliers.

In operation, a Sendata coupler is wired to  the transmitting computer and is attached to the handpiece of an ordinary telephone. It fits most modern telephone handpieces. The coupler converts the digital signals of the computer to analogue sounds.
