  • The Denon PMA‑1060 is a mid‑to‑upper‑range integrated amplifier notable for Denon’s proprietary New Optical Class‑A system. This design uses an optical bias servo to maintain Class‑A‑like low‑distortion behaviour while avoiding the heat and inefficiency of true continuous Class‑A operation. The servo dynamically adjusts bias depending on the audio level to keep the output transistors in their optimal linear region.
    The amplifier is built around a dual‑mono‑inspired layout, a high‑capacity power supply, and discrete output devices mounted on a substantial internal heatsink. Denon marketed the PMA‑1060 as a musically neutral, low‑noise amplifier suitable for high‑quality CD playback and modern digital sources of the late 1980s.
    The front panel includes Denon’s characteristic source direct mode, tone controls with defeat, and a high‑quality phono stage supporting MM and MC cartridges.
