  • Anotaciones
  • Although it can be used for other purposes, the Eddystone Cat No 844 Direct Drive Knob and Dial was primarily intended for the control of variable capacitors in radio transmitters and instruments. The anodised satin-finished 2" diameter dial is made of hard aluminium, and it is fixed to a 1 5/16" diameter black bakelite fluted knob. The eleven black major scale markings cover 180˚ and are numbered 0 to 10 anti-clockwise, and there are a further ten sub-divisions. The knob has a brass bush for 1/4" control shafts and a single plated steel grub screw. A matching index pillar was provided.

A similar component with Cat No 638 was available in 1949. In the 1954 Eddystone Radio Products catalogue the illustration was labelled 872, overlain with an 844 sticker. Popular in 1950s designs, the component was no longer in production by 1961.
