  • At least in 1954 Ekeradio offered a "beginners kit" transistor radio, a two band 8-oz. battery, transistorized Ekeradio, a transistorized custom F-M Ekeradio and a Transistorized "All wave Band Radio".

    Beginner's Kit:
    "The 12'000 mile transistorized radio comes in kit form with the parts listed: transistor, resistor, bolts, plastic plate, wire for short wave coils, special tuning coil, two printed circuit units, battery clips, oscillator coil, phone clips, a special subminiature tube, hook up wire and an antenna lead and solder. Comes with a sheet of easy to follow instructions. You will receive police calls, aircraft and ground stations, ship to shore and fishing boats, the 20, 40, 75 meter bands, foreign and code stations from the other side of the world. Complete kit is $ 7.95."
