  • Notes
  • The 9908-03 is an electronic counter based on germanium transistors and made in the late 1950's by Van Der Heem in The Netherlands (later a part of Philips). Its unique feature is the display, which consists of six moving coil meters, each one representing a digit from 0 to 9.

It is still remarkably accurate because of its oven controlled crystal oscillator. It will count frequencies up to and over 1 MHz. The functions are: frequency, period, time, count and test.

The unit folds open like a briefcase and reveals 25 printed circuit boards, packed with discrete components, among which are 134 OC44 and 6 2N404A germanium transistors and over 200 OA70 germanium diodes. Semiconductors are only listed once per type.

The MC02M oven controlled crystal oscillator was made in the UK by Cathodeon and operates at 55°C.
