Wireless for Crewe Cottage Hospital.
Messrs. Gent & Co., Ltd., of Faraday Works, Leicester, have installed at the Cottage Hospital, Crewe, a complete wireless installation. Fifty-four pairs of headphones and four loudspeakers may be used simultaneously, the receiving set being the standard “Tangent Radiomatic type B four-valve instrument. In the hospital is a distribution board similar to the telephone exchange, and the operator can plug in either headphone supply or loudspeaker supply to any of the wards or rooms. It is noteworthy that this number of headphones and loudspeakers can be operated from a four-valve instrument employing, of course, power valves, with a very slight drop in signal strength when all the phones and loudspeakers are working.
