Goodman’s Axiom 12 was a post‑war 12‑inch twin‑diaphragm loudspeaker developed as an improved version of the pre‑war Auditorium unit, with a wider frequency range and higher usable output. Its magnetic system uses a larger 1.75‑inch pole piece, a higher‑energy magnet, and a flux density of about 13,000 gauss to increase efficiency and power handling.
The twin‑cone arrangement, with a reinforced inner cone edge, extends response to roughly 15 kHz while suppressing bell‑like resonances that would otherwise color the sound at higher levels. Rated at about 12 watts peak, it is intended to deliver clean reproduction at significantly higher volumes than earlier Goodmans twin‑diaphragm speakers.
