While listed as an "Amateur Receiver", the S-210 used what was called "spread bands", covering only the shortwave segments for international shortwave broadcasting which do not include the amateur bands. A separate bandspread control was not necessary. The circuit is similar to the Legionnaire S-200 with the 88-108 MHz FM band added. The S-210 was the last of a series of vacuum-tube AC-DC shortwave receivers produced by Hallicrafters. The cabinet is metal except for the entire front section which is molded plastic.
