  • Notes
  • The Hammarlund FS-135-C was an accessory crystal calibrator module (100 kHz crystal and oscillator tube) that had to be retrofitted by the owner of a Hammarlund HQ-129X (early), Hammarlund HQ-129X (late), or other amateur receiver (including drillling mounting holes and wiring).  It was not offered as a "factory-original' variant.  The instructions recommend installation as far from the power transformer as possible.  That is why it is often seen in the Hammarlund HQ-129X in the rear left corner of the chassis (viewing from front) with new holes drilled by the receiver owner for the mounting screws and the power cable.  Hammarlund also suggested mounting an additional power switch on the front panel (thus a factory recommended modification) or optionally pulling the tube out when the calibrator was not in use and storing it on the chassis to assure temperature equivalence when needed.
